Why Loewen

“Having project managed many interior design and renovation projects I was introduced to Loewen windows and doors and was impressed with the quality of their product, the range of customised options and the people who work there – people with a passion to make the best windows and doors on the market, constantly seeking new innovations and ways to improve. Loewen windows are well suited to almost any type of project which makes them such a pleasure to work with and genuinely be able to recommend. Every project is unique and exciting and it is immensely rewarding to be a part of creating something beautiful” says Marieke van Egmond, Managing Director of Eden House Limited.

Wood Species

Unlike other window makers, we use Coastal Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga Menziesii to be botanically precise) as the standard species in our frames and sashes. This tightly grained wood does more than just give our windows a rich, warm texture— it’s also naturally tough and resilient, yet remarkably workable, meaning it is ideal for precision milling and capable of holding the smallest, most intricate detailing.

To enhance our wood’s high natural resistance to moisture absorption, decay and insect infestation, every Loewen wood component is treated with a water repellant/wood preservative sealant before assembly.

Alternatively, all Loewen windows and doors are also available in Mahogany, another durable species that is known for its luxurious beauty.

Colours and Cladding

Loewen uses only extruded aluminium cladding to better protect your window and door exteriors — as well as to eliminate the need for painting. Our thick extruded aluminium cladding retains its shape, resists denting, and lasts longer than roll-formed aluminium. In addition, Loewen’s window cladding is set away from the underlying wood, creating an air space that improves thermal performance.

Our nine standard and twenty-seven optional colours are created from Kynar-based paint that has been enhanced with ceramic pigmentation — meaning our finishes are better able to stand up to direct sunlight, extreme temperature variations and acidic pollutants without fading.

Hardware

Selecting a style and finish that reflects your unique taste is a critical part of creating the right look. But choosing hardware involves more than just appearance — function and operation are essential, which is why Loewen offers a wide range of handles, locking systems and other hardware choices — from the most traditional to the most contemporary.

Glazing

Loewen uses thicker glass than most other window manufacturers, making our products more insulative, more soundproof and more resistant to impact. Plus, our thicker glass is considerably more resistant to the stresses caused by fluctuations in temperature.

Loewen windows and glass inserts for doors are available with numerous glazing options: Heat-Smart® Plus Window Systems 1, 2 and 3, Tranquility® sound reduction system and StormForce™ Series. Loewen Heat-Smart® Plus Window Systems use argon gas and Low E2 technology to save you heating and cooling costs. Each of three Heat-Smart® Plus Window Systems delivers a different level of thermal performance, allowing you to choose the system that best meets your needs.

Performance and Certification

To enable homeowners, designers, architects and builders to choose the right products, Loewen adheres to universally recognized accreditation and certification programs. Certification allows our performance to be precisely measured and compared to other products and empowers you with objective, scientific tools.

Loewen products are designed to meet most major building codes. Our extensive product line, custom capability and years of market experience make even the most stringent codes achievable. Rely on Loewen to avoid unexpected expense and create your custom applications to code and to specification.
